A fortunate conversation has resulted in what we believe to be the FIRST TIME a full set of construction photographs has been found for ANY railway in the South of England.

Seen from the perspective of the surveyor, navvy: his family, and the local populace, here is an amazing record of the impact the building of a new railway had on an otherwise untouched landscape.

72 pages portray what is intended to be the first of three part work on the MEON VALLEY RAILWAY. This first volume covers just those early years from 1899 through to 1903. Some of the  images are also seen in their original sepia form, without recourse to modern day toning.

This is a book which may genuinely be said to have a appeal way beyond the normal enthusiast market.
