The fifth instalment in the 'Steam Trails' series concentrates on the Scottish Lowlands and Borders, which broadly covers the area north of the line from Carlisle to Newcastle and south of the line from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Written by author and rail enthusiast Michael Clemens, this volume provides a pictorial tribute of this area's final years of steam operation. The volume provides a large selection of previously unpublished photographs which were taken by the author and his father during their travels around the UK. The book also includes photographs from other collections the author has access to. As with the earlier books in the series, the volume includes a brief introduction accompanied by c140 mono and colour photographs with highly detailed and informative captions. This will be sought after by railway enthusiasts nationwide.
