The Special Operations Executive (SOE) French section, Jedburgh teams, and Special Air Service (SAS) sent into west and south-west France, helped the French Resistance liberate the whole area without assistance from any other ground forces.

Having been deeply involved behind the lines in France, Harry Verlander volunteered to serve once more, but this time in the mountains and jungles of Burma. No more the rolling countryside of rural France but the brutal uncompromising hand-to-hand fighting against the Japanese.
