This is a reminiscences book with a difference.

Instead of being based around the footplate crews - although there are plenty of stories of these men as well - it is primarily a fitter's story of life at a main depot which then encompasses all the varying grades and men working at the shed.

Set in the last days of steam, there are wonderful illustrations in both colour and b/w as well as plans, diagrams and a brief history of the shed itself.
